Sickle Cell Awareness Run 2008
The Sickle Cell Awareness Run in Memory of Patty Cruz is an event thats getting bigger, better, and very much so, a great cause, year after year. Fueled by the love of a past sister to many and beloved fellow rider, the Sickle Cell Awareness Run is a venue to express what Patricia Cruz had dreamt of as a way to aid many that suffers from the Sickle Cell Disease.
Patrica Cruz also know to her friends and family in the Motorcycle community as Nasty Patty was a lifelong resident of the Rockaways. On June 2nd, 2005 she was kill while riding her motorcycle on Central Ave in Far Rockaway. She left behind her dream that was planned only days away. But her friends and family took her dream and made it a reality and has done so for the past 4 years.
This year, like all others, was well planned and organized. Hundreds of bikers, Clubs and organizations, Businesses, friends and family came together to make June 2nd the NY Sickle Cell Awarness Run come together like no other.
