K9 Yami R1; Sucks!
With all the R&D that goes into the new Gen super sportbikes, you think Yamaha would go to the extreme and do a little more research into the competition. I think somewhere along the line, sombody screw up. Take a look at the Dyno charts with a full Akrapovic System. If the numbers pulled from Akrapovic’s site are correct (and I don’t see why they wouldn’t), then Yamaha has fallen way off the mark with this all new R1. The point of the new cross-plane crankshaft was for a more linear powerband. This torque curve looks a mess.
With Yamaha riders like Brewmyster and Cnote, its going to be another year with a machine that cannot produce compare to its other competition in its class. I, myself, was looking forward to the New R1’s being a beast like its 04 predicessor. Someone over on GDC pulled some more info from their site and did a couple overlays. Doesn’t look very flattering for the new R1 at all.
